NB: Ex-Library, but not just any library. From the Bournville School of Art Library, Birmingham. Typed label on title page reads"This book was donated to the Library of Bournville School of Art, by Mrs Dorothy Griffin. It belonged to her father Harry G.Sears a copper-plate engraver and one of the original residents of Bournville Estate". Dark brown hardcover library binding. Red speckled edges to textblock.Condition: Good, with light shelfwear to covers and library reference code sellotaped to base of spine. Binding cracked internally in one place, otherwise sound. Front endpaper has the words "glass cupboard" written in pencil and just above, the word "stack" is crossed out. Light browning to endpapers. A few of the introductory pages appear to have been removed, probably at the time of being put in the library binding e.g. title page is present and p.iii of the introductory pages, and then the page numbers start at 8 (a colour plate of an entrance hall designed by Murray Adams-Acton). Binding sound. 179pp. Many colour and b/w illustrations. Published at a time of great innovation in the European design world, the book contains many fascinating images of British country houses, interiors, pottery, furniture and stained glass as well as images of German architecture and decoration towards the rear.
