Privately published. Dark green hardcover with title in gilt on spine and front cover. Condition: Good, with light foxing to endpapers and textblock edges. Inscribed on the front endpaper to the previous owner, the African travel writer Elspeth Huxley. 114pp. Folding map of Egypt to rear (lightly foxed) 7 colour photographic illustrations. This book is an abridged edition of the authors diaries and field records, kept over some thirteen years from 1933. What he found significant was that the resident and visiting birds recorded up to 5000 years ago in the mural paintings and tombs oaf ancient Egypt till frequent or regularly pass through Egypt today, with only a few exceptions such as the Sacred Ibis.
