Seven painters decided in 1975 to form a Brotherhood of ruralists - the echo of the 19th century Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was deliberate, and like their predecessors they were an association of friends who shared strongly held views on the nature of art and the artists (though not a common style). The artists were Ann Arnold, Graham Arnold, Peter Blake, Jann Haworth, David Inshaw, Annie Ovenden and Graham Ovenden. This catalogue was published to accompany an exhibition of their work held at the Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol, which then toured several other venues in the UK.
