Dark red cloth with title in gilt on spine. Condition: Good, with light shelfwear to covers. Frontispiece bears the bookplate of the design historian John Gloag. Small biro note on front endpaper. Small vertical tear (approx half an inch) to top edge of illustrated frontispiece. Some occasional foxing within book, normally around the b/w plates. Some occasional vertical pencil lines in margins. Binding cracked internally in a couple of places. 416pp.36 b/w illustrations, some within text, othes are plates printed on a different type of paper (hence foxing previously mentioned). Chapters include subjects such as folk-memory, ancient industries, linchets, dewponds, old roads and track ways.
