The full title reads: A tour to Alet and La Grande Chartreuse, by Dom Claude Lancelot, author of the Port Royal Grammars; with some account of the monastery and abbot reformer of La Trappe; also biographical sketches of M.du Verger de Hauranne, Abbe de St.Cyran, Cornelius Jansenius, Bishop of Ypres; and a brief view of the celebrated institution of Port Royal by Mary Anne Schimmelpenninck. Half-leather with marbled paper covered boards and title in gilt within black label on spine. Five raised bands to spine. Condition: Good, with general light shelfwear and some rubbing to marbled paper covered boards and leather on spine and cover corners. Bindings sound. Both volumes have previous owners initials neatly written at top of title page and the bookplate of another previous owner on front pastedown. 254 and 338pp. respectively.
