This catalogue was produced to accompany the exhibition held at the Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem from 7 October to 31 December 2000 which then toured to Koninklijk Museum voor schone kunsten, Antwerp from 21 January to 22 April 2001. The charming portraits of children in this exhibition by Dutch and Flemish artists of the late Renaissance and Baroque periods offer a fascinating look not just at the children themselves, along with their clothes, toys and pets, but also at the society in which they lived. Accompanying essays set the works in context, discussing topics such as childrearing and education amongst the upper classes of the Netherlands in the 16th snd 17th century. A heavy book, will require extra postage if to be sent outside UK. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall
