Pale orange hardcover with title in gilt on spine. Condition: Very good, binding sound, text clean. Dustjacket condition: Good, with very light shelfwear and light sunning to spine and inner inch or so of rear cover of jacket. There are also a couple of faint small circular indents to the front of the jacket. 96pp. 16 colour and 24 b/w illustrations. Bawden was appointed one of the first official war artists and was sent to join the British Army in France with Barnett Freedman and Edward Ardizzone.He then travelled to the Middle East, returned to England after two months in a French internment camp before returning to the Middle East and finally Rome. This book was created from a selection of holdings in the Imperial War Museum, London. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall
