Condition: Good, with general light shelfwear to covers. The paper of the binding is torn on a one inch section around the title, but is complete. Previous owners name on fron pastedown. Binding sound. 203pp. Many b/w illustrations. In this book the author encourages the reader to look at the city as an entity which expresses certain ideas. He suggests that the individual monuments need to be looked at as part of a whole. The book includes sections on the city as a temple, colonial cities, the ideal cities of the Renaissance, the grand perspective, the Dutch contribution and Paris boulevards.
