Front cover has some paper residue from a small label to right of gilt emblem (see image). Binding sound, no inscriptions.Very occasional light foxing. Approx three pages have some linear foxing possibly from a green silk bookmark, present, but detached. 107pp. 7 colour tipped in plates from watercolour drawings by Katharine Cameron. In this book, the author tells the story of John Tradescant and his son, who were royal gardeners in the times of Charles I and Charles II. As well as being plant-hunters, they created the Musaeum Tradescantium, the first "Cabinet of Curiosities" to be open to the public in England. The contents of the museum were later acquired by the wealthy collector Elias Ashmole, who in 1691 gave it to Oxford University as the nucleus of the newly founded Ashmolean Museum.
