Softcover. Condition: Fair, covers generally lightly shelfworn and scuffed. Internally good, binding sound, no marks or inscriptions, text clean. 127pp. 200 b/w images with descriptions. This catalogue was produced subsequent to an exhibition of portraits held in 1974 at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery which demonstrated how various factors influence the way in which both portrait painters and engravers have shown their sitters. With a few exceptions, all the illustrations are of paintings and engravings held in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
