Second edition. Full vellum binding with gilt ruling to cover edges and gilt thistle motif to inner corners of covers. Title in gilt on red label on spine. All edges gilt with stamped maltese crosses. Marbled endpapers. Condition: Good, vellum quite soiled and rubbed, with light shelfwear to covers. Binding sound. Inscription to previous owner on reverse of fep. Light foxing to inner endpapers, otherwise text clean. 371pp. Short biographies of thirty-two English seventeenth century religious ladies, including Katharine, Lady Neville and Lady Sophia Chaworth.
