At the time of writing, only about 15 percent of the farms in the UK were larger than 150 acres, and most of the holdings were too small for the economical use of modern power machines. Sir Daniel Hall advocates the acquisition of agricultural land by the State in order to create generally larger units - he does not advocate State farming, rather to revitalise the existing principles of tenancy and to maintain private enterprise in the actual management of the land. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall
