This was the first book written in English to be devoted to the work of the pre-eminent 20th century landscape architect, Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994). It includes a perceptive and intimate portrait of the man himself, and goes on to document in detail his numerous parks and gardens, culminating in the landscaping at Caracas which was generally considered to be his best work to the date of publication (1964).
