In the first part of the book, the author gives an account of Cubism after 1914, from Picasso and Braque to Gleizes and Severini. The greater part of the book is comprised of an analysis of the stances challenging Cubist art, such as the "conservatives" from Dunoyer de Segonzac to Andre Lhote, and the new progressive avant gardes of Dada, Surrealism and international Constructivism.
