Hardcover. Condition: Good, with very light shelfwear to covers. Previous owners bookplate on front endpaper together with a list of Puffin Picture books possibly printed in 1945 (pencil inscription states 1945) also stuck down. The list has been cut in half and stuck down so that it is impossible to see the reverse. Just before the contents page, a Puffin bookplate is also inserted, glued onto a separate piece of paper. Binding sound. 216pp. Many colour illustrations. This book was first published in 2010 in an edition of 1,100 copies of which 100 were case-bound, numbered and signed by the author. This copy is no.38 of the 100 special case-bound copies. Eventually running to 120 titles, the Puffin Picture Books were launched in the most inauspicious of wartime conditions in 1940. This study not only examines these Puffins, but looks at the journey Noel Carrington took in arriving at the series.
