The text is translated from the Latin by Spencer Savage, and the caliigraphy is by Margaret Shipton. Rectangular super octavo (7 1/2 by 11 1/4 in.). Marbled paper covered boards with titles in gilt on dark green leather spine. Condition: Good, head and tail of spine lightly rubbed, with light shelfwear to covers. Light browning to endpapers. Binding sound, text clean, no inscriptions. The tissue guards to each plate are nearly all present, and are fairly browned. Dustjacket condition: Fair, generally lightly shelfworn and lightly browned with some small repaired tears to edges. Two large chunks missing to head and tail of spine of the jacket (approx. 2in. and 1.5 in. respectively). New tape repairs to spine and surrounding edges of jacket. Beautifully illustrated with b/w reproductions of 17th century copper engravings by Crispin van de Pass. This edition is no.257 of 500 copies of the book on mould made paper. (There were also 30 copies printed on Arnold hand made paper, numbered I-XXX). Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall
