Philippe Starck (.1949) is most well known for his work as a designer, for example of chairs, beds, tables and kitchen equipment. In this book his architectural activity (up to date of publication in 1994) is dealt with for the first time, and includes his interiors for the Cafe Costes, the office building known as "Le Baron Vert" in Osaka and his prefabricated house for "3 Suisses".

This 147 item catalogue included some spectacular items, and the sale set a record for an English country house dispersal, It was also notorious for the dispute over the authenticity of lot 56, a pair of Louis XV porphyry and gilt-bronze two-handled vases attributed to Ennemond-Alexandre Petitot. It includes sections on the historical foreground of the chamber being designed by Sir Charles Barry and decorated by Puigin in 1847, with details on the construction, heating, ventilation and lighting. Dustjacket condition: Fair to good, generally shelfworn with a couple of small repaired tears to base of spine. Price-clipped. 14 page introduction by Henry Miller, 16 colour plates, 84 b/w plates. Upon the original publication in 1923 of Ecce Homo, Grosz was fined 6000 marks and the work condemned as "an insult to public morality". Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall
