Brick-red cloth with title in gilt on spine. Condition: Very good, previous owners name on front endpaper. Binding sound, no inscriptions. Dustjacket condition: Good, with general light shelfwear and light suffing and soiling Small chip missing to base of spine of dustjacket. Not price-clipped. Dustjacket design by Herbert Spencer. 151pp. Many b/w illustrations. Three fold-out stage plans, two in colour.This book presents the report and plan for the preservation and redevelopment of Warwick which Sir Patrick Abercrombie and Mr Richard Nickson were commissioned to prepare for Warwick Borough Council. It showed, amongst other things, how haphazard development can be checked before it is too late and how the dignity and tranquility that once belonged to Warwick could be regained.

Decorated paper covered boards with title in gilt on blue buckram spine. Glassine dustjacket. Condition: Very good, with just a hint of shelfwear to covers. Previous owners name on reverse of front endpaper. The glassine dusjacket is in fair condition, with a few chips and tears. Loosely inserted is a copy of the original purchase invoice for the book, purchased by the previous owner (an architect) directly from the Hemel Hempstead Development Corporation. 41pp. plus serveral pages of advertisements. This book gives a brief assessment of the design of the new town at Hemel Hempstead, one of fourteen planned after World War II as a contribution to solving the post-war housing problem, and also as an experiment to find a better way of living.
