Not price-clipped. 155pp. Over 200 photographic illustrations, 60 in colour, the remainder in b/w. This was the first book written in English to be devoted to the work of the pre-eminent 20th century landscape architect, Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994). It includes a perceptive and intimate portrait of the man himself, and goes on to document in detail his numerous parks and gardens, culminating in the landscaping at Caracas which was generally considered to be his best work to the date of publication (1964).

This is a monograph on the British painter (1913-1989). The book also contains a detailed biography, bibliography and lst of exhibitions to the date of pubication in 1964.

Over the next twenty years several important gifts were received from Sydney Gimson and the nucleus of a fine collection was formed. This catalogue includes sections on furniture, chairs, plasterwork, metalwork, other designs and architecture, with an initial section on the history of the group.

This book gives a brief assessment of the design of the new town at Hemel Hempstead, one of fourteen planned after World War II as a contribution to solving the post-war housing problem, and also as an experiment to find a better way of living.

In architecture he rivals Butterfield, Street and Norman Shaw. In furniture and stained glass he eclipses the finest work of Morris & Co. In jewellery and metalwork he is without rival, except perhaps for his hero Pugin. Scarce.
