This book was published on the occasion of the most comprehensive exhibition ever undertaken on the work of Piet Mondrian, which was held to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the artist's death. It toured from the Haags Gemeentemuseum, The Hague in 1994 to the National Gallery of Art, Washington, and finally to the Museum of Modern Art, New York. 400pp. 180 colour and 110 b/w illustrations. This cataogue was produced to document the work by the Russian artist Kasimir Malevich (1878-1935) held at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. The collection includes 36 paintings and gouaches, 15 drawings and 18 "charts". The paintings were all shown in the Berlin exhibition of 1927, and this catalogue also includes details of all the other works by Malevich known to have been on display at the exhibition, together with a general introduction.
