Half leather with decorative marbled paper covered boards, with titles in gilt on spine. Marbled endpapers. Condition: Good, described as such becaused the covers are in fair condition, but internally the contents are in very good condition. The leather of the spine is rubed, the boards have generaly rubbind and shelfwear as to the leather covered cover corners, which are worn and frayed. The front hinge is nearly separated from spine, being held in place by one binding cord. Rear hinge holding firmly. Light foxing to inner endpapers. Text clean apart from occasional browning to page edges. The book includes engravings of the monuments of thirty noble personages from different periods of history in chronological order from Eleanor, Queen of Edward the First in 1290, to Sir Anthony Browne, in 1548 4to - over 9" - 12" tall

Dark brown/black buckram with title in gilt on the spine and the monogram of the Print Collector's Club outlined in gilt on front cover. Condition: Fair to good, covers have general light shelfwear, and endpapers have some foxing with light foxing generally throughout the book. Previous owners name on front endpaper in pencil with the date 1945. Binding sound. 62pp. 21 collotype plates plus frontispiece portrait of Samuel Palmer. This edition, printed at the Baynard Press, was limited to 375 copies, of which this is no.32. In his preface, the author states that the object of the book was to record the etchings of Samuel Palmer (1805-1881) in all their states, and to bring under a single cover all other important information relating to their history. This catalogue was produced to accompany the exhibition held at the Manchester City Art Gallery from16 October to 16 November 1975. It brought together for the first time the work of two important but little known artist-architects, who ctonributed to the development of the modern style in European architecture and design. This beautifully produced book is based on the letters written by Paul Nash, John Nash, his wife Christine, and Dora Carrington to each other c.1914-1918, "a book about student days, Western Front days and courtship days"
